The November 3 general election is approaching, and Hillsborough County residents have several ways to cast their ballots.

Whether voting early, voting by mail, or visiting an assigned polling place on Election Day, knowing the dates and requirements can help avoid last-minute problems.

Here is a practical, nonpartisan guide to the information Brandon voters need.

Important election dates

October 19 – November 1: Early voting

Hillsborough County will operate 27 early-voting locations from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. Registered county voters may use any of these locations during the early-voting period.

October 22: Vote-by-mail request deadline

Requests for a ballot to be mailed must be received by the Supervisor of Elections by 5 p.m.

November 3: Election Day

Polling places will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Voters casting ballots on Election Day must visit their assigned precinct.

The deadline to register for this election was October 5.

Early voting near Brandon

Two convenient locations for many Brandon-area residents are:

Bloomingdale Regional Public Library
1906 Bloomingdale Avenue, Valrico

Robert L. Gilder Elections Service Center
2514 N. Falkenburg Road, Tampa

Voters should consult the official county list for all 27 locations and choose the one that best fits their schedule.

Planning to vote by mail?

Florida voters must request a vote-by-mail ballot; one is not automatically mailed to every registered voter.

After completing a ballot, voters can return it by mail or through authorized ballot return options.

The Supervisor of Elections recommends allowing approximately a week for mail delivery. Completed ballots must reach an elections office by 7 p.m. on November 3.

Vote-by-mail ballots cannot be dropped off at regular Election Day polling places.

Residents can track their ballot through the county elections website.

Check before you go

Before voting, residents should confirm their registration information, review their sample ballot, and locate their assigned Election Day precinct if they plan to vote on November 3.

For in-person voting, bring an accepted photo identification that includes a signature, or the additional signature identification required if the photo ID does not contain one.
